With 28 years of experience pet sitting and over 19 years as a
veterinary technician, Greer Glazer a.k.a. Mama Bear, has devoted her
life to caring for animals and their people. Dubbed "a friend to all
animals" since the early years, Greer mostly walked dogs with her first
business Precious Pet Care in the 1990's. Feeling a need to understand more about veterinary medicine in order to better care for people's pets, Greer graduated from Pima Medical Institute's veterinary technician program in Seattle in 1997. For the first dozen years, Greer worked in exotics-focused clinics developing her skills handling birds, reptiles, dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, and pocket pets. She also became an excellent lab technician and in 2007 was hired by Animal House in Chicago as their in-house lab tech. After leaving Animal House, she went on to be a technician/nurse at The Chicago Cat Clinic, and continued her interest in feline specialty at The Cat Hospital of Chicago. From 2015-2017 she was assistant to Dr. Shanan of Compassionate Veterinary Hospice and continued working on CE in veterinary hospice.
Throughout the years, Greer continued to do Pet Sitting and in the mid 2000's began concentrating on marrying her skills as a vet tech and pet sitter, her dream when she decided to go to Pima. Since 2014, she started living her dream full time when she started Mama Bear Pet Care. Greer absolutely adores all the kitties and their families she gets to help out in their homes. Greer deeply enjoys building these relationships and feeling a close connection to so many wonderful animals and their people. During difficult times including post-surgical, aging, and end of life, using Greer's technician's skills can be an important supplement to regular veterinary visits for your pet. Greer offers home visits to administer Sub Q fluids, injections, pilling, and other supportive care such as light bathing and toe nail trims and other grooming. All of these services are available with our pet sitting services so medications and treatments may continue uninterrupted while you are out of town. Greer is also willing to work with others you may already employ (neighbors, friends, other pet sitters) so that together your pet will get the care they need when you are not home. Being able to support families emotionally and practically, answer questions, and brainstorm ideas with pet parents is the foundation of Greer's endeavor to make sure your pets are happy, content, safe, and loved. Healthy pets are always welcome, and every visit includes playtime and snuggles as well as feeding and cleaning litter boxes. It's always nice to have a vet tech watch your cats*, just in case! And Greer has the expertise to know what is an emergency and how to deal with it!
